my journey with celery juice

It's been almost a full year of consistently drinking celery juice. If you are thinking about giving it a try, do your body a favor and do it!

I haven't drank it every single day for a year by any means, but I have tried to drink it at least 2-3 times per week. There have been many weeks where I've gotten off track, but after those weeks I tried to have a good full week of having it every morning, Monday-Friday. It's literally changed my life!

Okay, that's a bit dramatic, lol. I remember a few years back a girl coming into my job and RAVING about celery juice and how it changed her life. I remember thinking to myself "ew, gross, I'll stick to my coffee." Now, I get it and wish I could go back and listen to her! I'm going to write about the ways I believe it has affected me personally, and then write more scientific benefits that I found.

The main reason I decided to try celery juice was that I had all the time in the world to. It was last year during the shut down, and I was feeling so terrible about my health and just life in general. After seeing it online somewhere (maybe Kylie Jenner's story, idk) I decided to get some celery, blend it up, and then strain it through my French press. 🤣 After a week or so, I was fed up with making it this way but also already seeing a difference and starting to really enjoy it. So I decided to buy a juicer. I didn't invest too much, and mine has lasted me ever since. Someday when it wears out or breaks, I will most likely invest more because I truly enjoy juicing! For now, my $60 one will do, linked here.

tips & tricks to drinking celery juice:

✨ Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and then wait 15 minutes before eating or drinking anything else.

✨ It will take one whole bunch of celery to get one glass of juice.

✨ Before juicing, make sure you wash it thoroughly.

✨ I've learned that the leaves make the juice have more foam (I think.. maybe there's another reason but this is my observation lol.) The foam to me is a weird texture and I can't drink it, so I have been removing the leaves.

✨ Place a plastic bag into the pulp bin to make clean up easier. Then you can just remove the bag and throw it away and it's one less part to wash!

✨ I normally rinse all of the parts right away so the celery doesn't have time to dry which makes washing a lot more difficult.

✨Another bonus to the juicer I bought is that all of the parts are dishwasher safe!

benefits and differences i've noticed:

🌱 Curves your appetite. Not only does it curve your appetite, it almost makes you crave healthier options throughout the rest of the day! This could be all in my head, but to me it feels this way.

🌱 It gives me so much more energy throughout the day. I literally am soo much more productive on days I drink my celery juice.

🌱 I don't have that afternoon crash on days I drink it. And on rare occasions when I do- I can still enjoy 1-2 cups of afternoon coffee guilt free because I didn't have it in the morning.

🌱 My skin is much more glowy and more clear.

🌱 I'm much more hydrated.

🌱 I can focus better! I truly have noticed I focus on conversations better. I interact with others better, I focus on what I need to get done better, and I overall just think more clearly!

🌱 Digestive health. I won't go into detail too much on this one, but your first time drinking celery juice- make sure you have easy access to a bathroom. 🤣 Your body gets used to it eventually, but you can definitely tell it works if you've gone a few weeks without it! Gut health is so important and I feel it has benefitted mine.

🌱 Overall cleanse. I definitely like to drink alcohol, so I believe celery juice helps flush my liver of toxins from drinking. (at least I hope it does LOL)

disclaimer:

So one of the first things I want to say that I read that was kind of contradictory from my opinions above, was that celery juice is low in fiber. This is because when juicing you strip the fiber from fruits and vegetables. Just make sure you eat enough fiber throughout the rest of the day to help with digestion.

benefits i found online:

  1. Cancer prevention. Celery has 8 cancer fighting compounds.

  2. Reduces cholesterol levels.

  3. Controls blood pressure.

  4. Helps prevent kidney stones.

  5. Anti-inflammatory.

  6. Aids weight loss.

  7. Boosts brain function.

  8. Supports the liver,

  9. Improves mood.

  10. Improves gut health.

There are many things I've done in the past year to better myself, and drinking celery juice is one that will be sticking around. I hope this post inspires someone to try it and possibly improves your life too! ☺️🌱✨ Let me know if you guys try it and what your thoughts are!
